UPDATE: Monroe Public Safety Director Keith Glass identified the man who was injured Sunday morning after either jumping or falling off the Highway 11 bridge over Highway 78.
“At approximately 0720 this morning Luke Aaron Breakey wm DOB 03/16/1985 of West Palm Beach Fla. fell or jumped from the south bound lane side of the HWY 11 bridge onto the East bound lanes of HWY 78. Breakey was severely injured and transported by helicopter to Atlanta Medical for treatment,” Glass wrote.

Highway 78 has been shut down in both directions at Highway 11 in Monroe in order to medi-vac a patient.
According to Bill Owens from Monroe Fire Department, someone allegedly jumped off the Highway 11 bridge onto the road. He survived the fall and is being flown out. Avoid the area at the moment. Owens said at this time officials are not sure of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office report that this area of Highway 78 will be closed indefinitely while Monroe Police Department investigates “what appears to be either a horrible accident or a suicide attempt.” People are urged to avoid the area.
WCSO report that the man is from out of state and not much other information is known at this time as the investigation has just begun.
