Breaking: Police confirm death of a 25-day infant in Monroe Tuesday

Officials confirm the second tragedy in Monroe in just over a week restyled in the death of a 25-day-old infant girl Tuesday. This incident is not related to the injury of a 2-month-old infant that occurred a week ago. .

Monroe Police Asst. Chief R.V. Watts reported that at 6:58 a.m. on April 26, 2016 at 06:58 a.m. MPD officers responded to 326 Towler Street in reference to a newborn child that was not breathing.

“Upon arrival officers immediately located a 3-week-old little girl that was unresponsive and not breathing. Officers initiated CPR and continued until Monroe Fire arrived and took over the care of the infant and transported her to Clearview hospital where she was later pronounced dead at 07:26 am,” Watts wrote in a press release. “Please keep all of our public safety personnel (Police, Fire, EMT, Doctors, Nurses, Medical staff) in your prayers. This is the second tragic incident involving an infant in the past few days and it has really taken a toll on all that are involved.”
