Monroe PD Reports: Home invasion and restaurant armed robberies

Monroe Police Department responded to the following calls between  July 1 – 7, 2016. This report is split into four parts due to the length. This is the first part for this period. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Enter auto, McDaniel St., complainant advised sometime during the night, unknown person entered his 2014 Dodge Ram and stole a Taurus 9mm. The 9mm handgun was recovered by night shift while making contact w/ suspicious juveniles in the area of McDaniel St. @ 0300 hrs. Officer processed complainant’s vehicle for prints and report was taken.
  • Fraud report taken at MPD lobby, complainant stated an unknown person listed one of his properties for rent on craigslist and wanted a report due to complainant is selling the property.
  • Dispute, J Reynolds Furniture over parking. Situation mediated, all ok.
  • Dispute, Claywill Circle between male and female subjects over glasses. Situation mediated.
  • Domestic problem, Ridge Rd., Pine Ridge Villas, complainant disputing w/girlfriend over relationship and moving out. No signs of violence present, report taken and parties separated.
  • Theft, Parkway Place, complainant stated he went to Walmart with family and returned home on Reed St. Complainant stated he left his iPhone on the car seat and went inside home for 1 hour and when returned to car, iPhone was gone. The stolen iPhone is an iPhone 6S plus with a gray case which matches the phone that was recovered by B-Shift. CID was contacted and report taken.
  • Damage to property, Douglas St., complainant stated she arrived home and had no power and suspects her ex-husband might have turned the main power off outside. Breaker was switched back on and power was working properly. Monroe utilities advised to come put a lock on power box outside residence. All ok.
  • Armed robbery call on Perry St., 1 B/M wearing blue shirt and blue shorts with short hair along with B/M wearing denim shorts and white t-shirt w/ dreaded  hair knocked on residence door and home owner answered door and then a gun was pointed in his face. Home owner was struck in face by other B/M. Owner stated he tried to grab gun that B/M was pointing at him and during struggle, the magazine clip fell out of the gun and was left on scene. Magazine was collected and secured in evidence. EMS treated owner on scene. Report taken and area checked for suspects.
  • Suspicious person, Cook Place, Contact made w 16-year-old B/M who matched description of suspect from previous armed robbery. Victim could not positively identify if 16-year-old was suspect. 16-year-old taken to MPD to be picked up by guardian.
  • Advised by concerned citizen of suspicious person/vehicle, Walton Circle in regards to older white vehicle on location w/ 3 B/M behind residence. Contact made w/ subjects who are with “Greenscapes” and were employed by homeowner. Homeowner verified by phone, all ok.
  • Suspicious person, United Community Bank. W/M and W/F asleep in white Ford Fiesta in parking lot. Contact made w/ male and female subjects who were in process of moving and stated they had flat tire and pulled into bank for a nap. Tire was changed, field test on Davis to make sure he was ok to drive. All ok.
  • Domestic problem report only, Ridge Rd., complainant stated her ex-boyfriend came to her residence last night stating he wanted to talk. Complainant said she tried to ignore him but ex-boyfriend wouldn’t leave. Complainant stepped outside to speak w/ ex-boyfriend for a moment due to nieces and nephews were inside apartment but then ex-boyfriend followed complainant inside and starting going through her things and became upset due to finding sex video on her phone and then ex-boyfriend slapped complainant. Complainant advised she has conditions of bond where ex-boyfriend is not to be around her but was scared to call police because of conditions of bond and kids being there. Ex-boyfriend has warrants through WCSO. Report taken.
  • Missing person, W. Spring St., complainant advised her husband got out of vehicle @ Walmart to fill a prescription and was gone 30 minutes and possibly wandered off due to dementia.  Officer made contact with complainant by phone, she advised husband was located inside Walmart and all was ok.
  • Escorted male subject from W. Spring St. to S. Broad St. in regards to subject was seen walking home from Clearview with only 1 shoe. All ok.
  • Animal call on Oakwood Ln. in regards to four dogs on porch destroying plants. Contact made with four dogs who were secured in rear of patrol vehicles. Complainant stated dogs belong on Oakwood Ln. Negative contact w/ owner. Dogs were transported to Animal Control and turned over. Damage to property report taken.
  • Suspicious vehicle on Alcovy St. in regards to white Ford car, possibly a mobile domestic where female tried to get out of vehicle and male pulled her back in and the vehicle left the area. *Possible suspects from Unity Bank earlier this date.
  • Lost item, E. Church St. (Chevron) complainant exited his vehicle and dropped wallet between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM and returned later to Chevron to find wallet and was advised that it was found in trashcan but $400 cash was taken. Report taken, no video due to where complainant parked.
  • Domestic problem, E. Tall Oaks Dr., complainant advised male subject was driving by and verbally harassing her. Complainant requested report and advised of TPO process.
  • Found property, S. Madison Ave. (Boys & Girls Club) blue Dasani bicycle left by dumpsters. The bicycle was left on location in case owner returned. All ok.
  • Domestic, Pizza Hut W. Spring St; male subject in dispute with girlfriend, male subject threw his drink on her was GOA, report taken.
  • Civil Issue @ Susie’s Wings;  complainant in dispute over a vehicle bill of sale, seller of vehicle wanted it back, situation mediated.
  • Suspicious Person, Claywill Circle; Attempting to locate male subject after tip advised he was armed and wanting to shoot someone, negative contact, after extensive area check.  Subject later located
  • Armed Robbery call at Popeye’s;  Complainant advised he was robbed after asking for directions from a black male in a Chrysler 300 in the parking lot.  Very suspicious circumstances.  The vehicle was located at the registered address in Lawrenceville by Lawrenceville PD, Jeffrey Moore and his vehicle was brought back to the PD for follow-up.  Moore later charged with Armed Robbery.
  • Harassment, King St., Ex-boyfriend keeps calling and texting complainant, no threats made.  Harassing Communication report made.
  • Welfare Check, E. Church St., father wanted us to check his 10 year old son who had called his Dad after getting into trouble for pouring tomato soup on his grandparents beds.  Ongoing domestic/divorce issues. Report made for documentation
  • Escort call at Mike Cash; male subject sleeping on Mike Cash furniture, given an escort to Huddle House.
  • 911 hang-up/EMS assist at Huddle House; above subject transported to Clearview reference leg pains.
  • Domestic problem, Douglas St., complainant and his mother disputing over him refusing to leave, Comp advised of the eviction process.  Complainant reported a misc. theft of money and cellphone.
  • Damage to Property, E. Spring Street Dollar General; Comp ran over some glass in parking lot, requested report in case tire goes flat.
  • Suspicious person, Deer Acres Inn; Comp flagged down officer about her son driving around in a Ford Taurus intoxicated,  area checked with no negative contact.
  • Suspicious Person, Felker Park; male subject on his laptop under the pavilion, checked for warrants advised the park was closed subject sent home.
  • Suspicious Person, McDaniel St. at Pinecrest Dr., male subject walking home to Skyline, subject checked, sent on his way.
  • Officer’s called to S. Broad St. (Chevron), complainant stated he woke up this morning in a field on Ammons Bridge Rd. and doesn’t know where his vehicle is. Complainant stated he last remembers being at party in Oxford and a friend driving him. Newton County notified to be on lookout for silver Infiniti G20 or black Jeep Compass in case vehicle was wrecked or abandoned. Newton had negative contact w/ vehicles and complainant was given escort to Newton County police department.
  • Follow up at Liberty Hill Church Rd. w/ WCSO in regards to call earlier w/ complainant missing Jeep Compass. Vehicle was found in lake and Newton County transported complainant back to scene. Report taken and GSP arrived to work scene and wreck.
  • Civil issue, New Lacy St. Woman advised her children were in Florida with their father and the children advised her that the father choked them while in Florida. She was advised to contact local police agency in Florida where incident occurred and report the incident.
