According to Walton County Officials, a Walton County inmate who had a ‘free’ weekend after walking off a work detail was rearrested in Morgan County. He now faces an additional charge for escape.
Walton County Sheriff’s Deputy Lora Stamey said the Billy Craig White, Sr., 40, was an inmate in Walton County Detention Center on a probation violation and a failure to appear warrant on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, when he walked away from a work detail in Social Circle. He was re-arrested on Sunday, Aug. 21, behind a church in Rutledge by Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputies. He is now back in the Walton County Jail facing an additional charge of escape. Stamey said White was on probation for being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon when he violated his probation.
WCSO report that, in addition, White had damaged his county-issued inmate uniform while out on his weekend break. He had disposed of the top and made the pants into cutoff shots, also discoloring them with some unknown liquid substance.
