Monroe PD Reports: School bus runs into low hanging wire, woman stealing scrap metal

Monroe Police Department responded to the following calls between  Sept. 2 – 28, 2016. This report is split into six parts due to the length. This is the first part for this period. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Assist Motorist on West Ridge Dr., in reference to a school bus running into a low hanging wire across the street. The wire was determined as a cable wire and was remove by officer. Monroe utilities department was advised of the situation as well.
  • Police Misc. South Broad St. Monroe Police Department lobby, complainant advised his wife grabbed a vehicle backing up in the McDonald’s parking lot yesterday, knocking her down, along with him. The driver provided her information. An incident report was obtained for documentation. No injuries, just soreness.
  • Shoplifting, East Spring St., Dollar General. Subject identified by witnesses as named male subject took an AT&T Go-Phone and left without paying.
  • Harassment, Ash Lane, complainant advised subject has been texting mean things to her via Facebook and phone.
  • Stolen Vehicle, South Broad Street – Monroe Police Department lobby, complainant reported female subject took her vehicle around 0300 hours this date and later located vehicle at “The Hot Spot” on East Marable Street, where female subject left and went to Athens and was later chased by Athens-Clarke County Police and eluded apprehension. Warrants were taken by ACCPD. Vehicle NOT placed onto GCIC as stolen until contact is made with registered owner.
  • Suspicious Person, Tanglewood Dr., Caller advised of a black male lying in the roadway. Unknown if its medical issues or was recently robbed. Area checked with negative contact.
  • Suicide Threats, East Tall Oaks Dr., subject making verbal threats. Voluntary went to hospital – taken by EMS.
  • Warrant Service, North Broad St., at Smith’s Barber & Beauty Shop. Received information male subject was on location, who has an active and valid battery warrant for his arrest out of Walton County. Negative contact with subject on location.
  • Trespassing, Victory Dr., in reference to male subject sleeping on location in back yard. Negative contact with subject.
  • Dispute on Oak St. complainant advised she got into a verbal dispute with subject…. Subject was GOA upon officer’s arrival.
  • Suspicious vehicle @ Amici’s – Ref to a black Ford Ranger driving reckless heading toward Social Circle. No contact with the vehicle.
  • Shoplifting at E. Spring St – A male concealed a package of socks into his pants and left the store without paying.  Subject’s possible name was given.
  • Domestic/Burglary at Tanglewood Dr – complainant and a male subject were arguing over someone breaking into the residence. three TV’s and an Xbox were taken. Serial numbers entered on GCIC. Possible two suspects were named.
  • Dispute at Walmart – Ref to 2 males and a female subject arguing in the parking lot. Verbal argument over transfer of children for visitation. Situation was mediated.
  • Welfare check at Walmart – Ref to a female subject falling and throwing up inside Walmart. Made contact with the female subject and EMS transported female to Clearview.
  • Runaway juvenile, W. Tall Oaks – Ref to juvenile snuck out his window and ran away for the second time this week. Subject entered/removed from GCIC due to returning home later.
  • Welfare check at Dean St – DFACS requesting the check of a 6-month old and three other children. Subjects left prior to officer arrival after spotting DFACS.
  • Disabled vehicle @ S. Madison Ave/Davis St – Not a disabled vehicle but instead it was a hit and run.
  • Suspicious person at E. Church St – Advised a suspicious female was inside the store but was now GOA. Clerk wanted officer to stand by while they closed.
  • Theft/Trespass at Hubbard St – Tommy Harrison advised that a white female driving a white Chevy Tahoe is possibly taking scrap metal.
  • Suspicious person at S. Broad St – Ref to two male subjects knocking on the door insisting that the clerk open the door. Made contact with two male subjects. Advised both subjects to stay away from the business when it is closed.
