Monroe PD: Road rage on McDaniel Street ends with gunfire, shooting at Jack Peters store

Monroe Police Department responded to the following calls between Oct. 9 – 15, 2015. This report is split into five parts due to the length. This is the second part for this period. Please note, a charge or arrest does not constitute a conviction. 

  • Dispute call at J Beauty SupplyRef to complainant upset because they would not exchange some blonde “crimped” hair for some blonde “curly” hair. They would not exchange due to their policy on no exchanges with opened/damaged packages. Complainant advised that she would make the “crimped” hair work. All ok.
  • Suspicious person call at CitgoRef to Laura Smith on location in a gold Suburban that has warrants. Laura Smith arrested for two warrants out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Welfare Check call on E. Spring Street CleanersRef to male subject sleeping at the laundromat. Watkins escorted back to W. Creek Circle. Johnny Green arrested for warrant/Child Neglect.
  • Stopping suspicious vehicle on Broad/SpringTina Etheridge arrested for suspended license and suspended registration.
  • Suspicious vehicle call on Broad/E. Washington StRef to vehicle failing to maintain lane. Area checked no contact.
  • Burglary in Progress call on Pine Knoll St; residence advised three black males were trying to get into his window.  Mr. Lewis has medical problems. All Ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle call on Blasingame Road; Driver was unfamiliar with area, adjusting his GPS, all OK.
  • Burglary call on Cook Place; Complainant advised someone entered his house, because a light was turned off and a remote was moved.  Report declined.
  • Loud Music Complaint on Eagles Trail; Music turned down prior to arrival, advised on noise ordinance, all OK.
  • Misc call on Davis Street; Complainant thought something was going on, light bulb in his house blew, all ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle call on Hwy 78 and Walton EMC eastbound; black truck unable to maintain lane, speeding, Area checked, Negative contact.
  • Suspicious Person call Fuzions; 18-year-old male was on location with a beer, subject did not register on alco-sensor, advised to leave location.
  • Drug call at Fuzions; female subject smoking marijuana in the bathroom, female subject identified did not have any on her, advised someone passed a joint to her, she was sent home with a friend.
  • Suspicious Vehicle call on Lakeview Drive; subject used their driveway as a turnaround, stopped and sent on way, all ok.
  • Drug call on S. Madison Ave; female subject admitted to using a large quantity of meth and marijuana at a hotel in Loganville, turned over to EMS
  • Agency Assist call on Hwy 11 north at Bold Springs; GSP requested assistance on a stop reference to car search, WCSO responded to help, all ok.
  • Suspicious subjects call on Lacy St., Seven black males walking behind apartments, area checked on foot, no contact.
  • Fight call at Jack Peters Store; After Legion let out, approx 30 subjects in a fight, upon arrival crowd dispersed, one unknown black male subject shot 4-5 times, unknown person shot in leg, was gone prior to officer’s arrival.  Two shell casings recovered, contact made to local area hospitals in case victim shows up.  Victimless Agg assault report made.
  • Domestic problem call on Cook Place; Comp advised ex-girlfriend on location with another male who left out the back door, situation mediated, parties separated.
  • Suspicious Persons call on Tanglewood Drive; Group of 30 gang members loitering at bottom of subdivision being loud.  Contact made told to leave, checked area for a while after.
  • Suspicious person call on Pine Knoll; male subject advised someone was breaking into his car, negative on entering auto.
  • EMS Assist call on Cook PlRef to subject took 10 Oxycodone and unknown amount of depression medication. Transported to Clearview.
  • Welfare Check at Home DepotRef to a male sleeping in a car. Made contact with driver, he is out of Decatur who stated he was hired as a male stripper for a party in Monroe last night and he has to pick his child up today at noon here in town, so he slept in his car to save a trip.
  • Juvenile Complaint call on Davis St/Wall St. – Ref to 3 B/M juveniles throwing rocks at complainants white Dodge Caravan. Extensive damage to passenger side rear quarter panel. Area checked, contact with the juveniles.
  • Damage to Property call on Pine Park St – Ref to a vehicle damaging a water meter. Monroe Utilities notified. Private property accident report completed.
  • Area check call on New Lacy StRef to a possible meth house. Complainant advised that the house has a strange odor about it. Made contact with the resident, no odors or signs of drugs.
  • Suspicious vehicle call on Hwy 11/Whitney Rd – Ref to a black Ford Taurus traveling northbound on Hwy 11 unable to maintain lane. Area checked no contact.
  • Officer requested at Booth Dr.Ref to Craigery Towler wanting to speak to an officer about the damage to property on Pine Park St. Craigery Towler arrested for driving on a suspended license.
  • Domestic problem call on Tanglewood DrRef to male and female arguing over living arrangments. Advised female of the civil process. No contact with male subject.
  • Gas Drive Off at E Spring StRef to white male driving a black truck taking $10.00 gas without paying.
  • Ref to black female driving a red VW Golf taking $14.80 gas without paying.
  • Suspicious vehicle call on E. Washington/S. Broad StRef to a champagne color SUV in the area with a shotgun hanging out the window. Area checked no contact.
  • Road Rage call on McDaniel St/Pinecrest Dr.Ref to white truck and black truck in road rage incident where the male in the white truck shot a gun at the subject in the black truck on Pinecrest Dr. Colton Murphy arrested for Barrow Co warrants. Darian Graziosi arrested for Aggravated Assault and Aggressive Driving.
  • Stopping suspicious vehicle on N. Broad/Hwy 78, Precious Monique Sands arrested for expired tag and suspended license.
  • Dispute call on S. Broad StRef to a verbal dispute between mother and son. Situation mediated, all OK.
  • Dispute call on N. Broad St (J&B Food Mart)Ref to subjects loitering and harassing customers. Subjects were gone prior to officer’s arrival. Owner does not want anyone hanging out. He requested that we run them off if we see them hanging out.
  • Identity Theft call on Cook PlRef to complainant having a medical episode. Stated someone hacked his phone and is using his phone info. No evidence to pursue the complaint.
  • Juvenile Complaint call on Michael CirRef to complainant advising that a juvenile that she has asked not to come around her house was riding his bike in front of her house. Juvenile was gone prior to officers arrival.
  • Damage to Property call on E. Tall Oaks DrRef damage to back door. Made contact with complainant who stated that 3 B/M juveniles busted out her glass on her back door.
