Monroe PD responded to the following calls between Dec. 23 – 29, 2016. This report is split into five parts due to the length. This is the first post for this period. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.
- Suspicious Vehicle at Athens First Bank in reference to a vehicle parked in the parking lot, prior to bank opening. Subject was waiting for the bank to open.
- Shoplifting, West Spring Street – Walmart, employee advised a young white male came into the store and stole several items. Males subject was gone when police arrived.
- Domestic, Norris Street, male and female subjects arguing about her not taking her blood pressure medicine. Situation mediated.
- Suspicious Vehicle at Monroe Church of Christ. Gray Honda abandoned on location. All was ok with the vehicle.
- Domestic, Store House Court, complainant advised her and her boyfriend was arguing and he grabbed her shirt. Boyfriend gone upon officer’s arrival.
- Traffic Stop on West Spring Street at The Car Wash. Vehicle impounded for no insurance coverage.
- Harassment at Dominos, complainant advised her ex-girlfriend is harassing her over a spare key.
- Gambling on Chestnut Lane. Group of five subject fled on foot upon law enforcement presence.
- Suspicious Person at Resthaven Cemetery, male subject in cemetery and left upon request.
- Suspicious person, Southside Mobile Home Park– Ref to a subject walking around the shed. Searched the area with no contact.
- Dispute at Clearview – Ref to patient being disruptive. Female subject calmed down after being told they called the police. Subject was cooperating with the nurses on arrival.
- Domestic at Hitachi – Not a domestic. Two black males were attempting to get a job. The subjects were told to leave and were gone when officers arrived.
- Dispute at Taylor’s – complainant wanted Christmas items from his vehicle. After determining that he was the owner of the vehicle, he was allowed to get the items.
- Firearms discharged, Nowell St – Complainant advised that they heard about 15 shots near the cemetery. Searched the area with no contact.
- Miscellaneous, Stowers Dr – Subject wanted officer to check two guns that he bought today to make sure they were not stolen. Both guns checked and they were not stolen.
- Suspicious person on S. Madison/Towler St – female subject was jumping up and down in a business parking lot. Subject was sent on her way.
- Area check, Walton Truck Stop – Ref to looking for truck driver. Driver’s boss had not heard from him all day. Made contact with driver. All was ok.
- Entering auto, Amici’s – employee’s un-secured vehicle was entered while she was working. Clothes and make-up was taken.
- Area check, Edwards St – Ref to suspicious people running around next door. Made contact with two juveniles that are down from TN visiting family.
- Suspicious vehicle, Hwy 11/Charlotte Rowell – Ref to a silver SUV heading south on Hwy 11 failing to maintain lane. Followed the vehicle to a driveway on Pinecrest Dr. Did not observe any traffic violations.
- Loud music, Alcovy St – Ref to loud music coming from a white car across the street. Searched the area and had no contact with car or music.
- Loud music, Cloverdale Dr – Ref to loud music from across the street. Made contact and advised of the noise ordinance. Subject lowered the volume.
- 911 Hang-up, Nowell St – Female subject advised dispatch that it was her juveniles on the line. Female subject does not reside on Nowell St. Made contact with female subject on Towler. Actually a domestic between female subject and male subject over him arriving home late. Male subject was transported to W. Marable St for the night.
- Loud music, Bridgeport Ln – Complainant advised that the music was coming from address given on Bridgeport Pl. Searched the area with no contact of loud music.
- Unknown, Car Wash (S. Broad St) – Ref to a white female slumped over steering wheel. She was arrested for DUI.
- Loud music, Tanglewood Ln – Ref to a speaker on the porch with loud music. Searched the area with no contact of loud music or speaker.
- Traffic Stop on Davis Street at Lacy Street. Driver, Dorreous Brooks, attempted to elude police in vehicle and fled on foot on Lacy Street at Pine Park Street. Subject tased, arrested, and charged with brake light violation, driving while unlicensed, disorderly conduct and fleeing and attempting to elude police.
- Fraud, Springer Lane, complainant inquired to know how she could get her son wallet from his girlfriend. She was advised of remedies.
- Suspicious Vehicle on Highway 11, southbound. Caller advised the vehicle was failing to maintain its lane. Area checked with negative contact.
- Juvenile Complaint at the Walton County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a 10-year old being disrespectful.
- Unknown Problem on Wheel House Lane. Caller dialed 911, requested help, and hung up the phone. Upon arrival subject requested transport to hospital due to medical issues.
