Monroe Police Department report the arrest of Ethan Leshaun Crutchfield on Tuesday night following an armed robbery attempt at Walgreens on S. Broad Street. According to a press release from MPD Public Safety Director, the incident happened just after 9 p.m. on Nov. 10, 2015.

According to witness statements and video surveillance, MPD report that  a black male entered the store, and later approached the cash register and attempted to buy a toy and a candy bar.

“The subject advised that he left his money in the car, then exited the store.  When the male returned to the register, he lifted his shirt as if he had a weapon, and advised that he did not want to hurt anyone, and to give him all the money,” Glass said in the press release. “The cashier refused and the suspect then demanded that the cashier give him all the Newport Cigarettes. The employee once again refused, and as another customer approached the register, the suspect became agitated and ran out of the store.”

Glass said Ethan Leshaun Crutchfield was taken into custody at his residence a few hours later and charged with the robbery. In addition, James Michael Head was arrested at Walgreens on a contempt of court warrant through Athens Clarke County. MPD report that Head’s arrest is not related to the robbery at Walgreens.
