Monroe PD Reports: Man punched in face by motorist in road rage incident

Monroe Police Department responded to the following calls between Nov. 6 – 15, 2015. This report is split into five parts due to the length. This is the first part for this period. Please note, a charge or arrest does not constitute a conviction. 

  • Emergency message to McDaniel St. Contact made w/ residence, message delivered to contact Hospice regarding his wife.
  • Burglary call on Old Mill Point, complainant advised unknown subjects entered his residence between 7:00-7:30 AM and attempted to take items but all items were left behind.
  • Theft call on E. Church St., complainant stated sometime last night, unknown subject stole the passenger side mirror glass off her vehicle.
  • Theft call on E Marable St. (Hot Spot), B/M wearing gray hoodie and sweatpants stole 1 case of Natural Light off of beer delivery truck and fled from scene.
  • Forgery call on E Spring St. (Rite Aid), Pharmacy advised female on location in black Honda Accord trying to pick up her sister’s medications. Female GOA, No forgery committed.
  • 911 hang up call on E Marable St., Elderly female on location having chest pains, Fire and EMS en-route as well. Female transported by EMS to Clearview.
  • Fraud call at MPD lobby, complainant stated his mother keeps receiving calls stating she owes IRS taxes. Complainant was advised it was a scam and not to give any information to them. Report declined.
  • Assault call on Cook Place, complainant stated he was slapped by cousin and his left ear wasn’t working. Complainant also stated the red light @ E Marable St. and N Broad St. was keeping up with his location. Report declined, Allen given a ride to Clearview by Walton EMS.
  • Road rage on W Spring St. @ GWA, complainant advised that an unknown male in a blue or black Ford Expedition got out of his vehicle and approached him saying he pulled out in front of him and then punched him in the face.
  • Area check at intersection of W Spring St. and Hwy 138 due to traffic light not signaling correctly. All ok, drivers not paying attention to lights.
  • Harassment call on Tanglewood Dr., juvenile being contacted on KIK account. Advised to delete account or make private. Account made private while on location.
  • Shoplifting call on S Broad St. (Dollar General) Ricky Hosey arrested for shoplifting.
  • Civil issue call on W Spring St., complainant had questions about TPO due to ex-girlfriend violating TPO. Report made.
  • Area check call on Hwy 11 bridge neat Hwy 78 due to utility truck possibly stuck in mud, area checked no contact.
  • Suspicious person call on W Spring St., white male in black Ford F-150 making threats, complainant stated a male subject followed him and made threats due to dating ex-girlfriend. Report taken.
  • Suspicious person call on Tall Oaks Dr., Complainant claiming a subject in the wood line on Church St had a gun, negative contact, complainant has medical condition.
  • Suspicious person call at Carver Place; Several juveniles on location, subjects sent on their way.
  • Suspicious Vehicle call on Hwy 78 eastbound into city; Chevy S10 failing to maintain lane.  Area checked no contact.
  • Suspicious person call at Quick Pick S. Madison Ave; Subject waiting for a ride, all ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle call on N. Broad Street; Reginald Cox stopped after caller said he was unable to maintain lane.  Cox arrested for DUI.
  • Hit and Run call at Walmart; Silver Nissan Rogue struck by unknown vehicle. Report made.
  • Suspicious Vehicle call on 4th Street; Comp advised a blue SUV is speeding up and down the road.  Officer made contact with a similar vehicle and all was ok.
  • Hit and run call at Omars Store S. Madison Ave; Gray Chevy Truck left the scene, negative contact, report made.
  • Accident on Hwy 78 and Unisia Drive; 3 car accident, 1 minor injury.  Sheontay Adams arrested for driving on expired license, failure to Yield and a warrants out of Arcade PD.
  • Damage to Property call at Dreamworks Auto; Juvenile white male in the area was throwing rocks at her car, refused report.
  • Suspicious Vehicle call on N. Broad Street heading South; vehicle stopped, was unable to maintain lane based on working his GPS, all ok.
  • Domestic problem call at Monroe Motor INN; female subject advised she was slapped in the head by a male subject who was gone prior to officer’s arrival, report taken.
  • MISC call at Monroe Area High School; comp advised he forgot to advise his parents he needed a ride home, unable to reach them.  Subject given a ride to Eagle Trail.
  • 911 Hang-up call 2 times on Michael Cir; nobody responded to the door, possible weather related.
  • Fight call at Fuzions; Joshua Anderson, Mark Abernathy and Tammy Layton arrested for Public Intox/DOC. Anderson also had a warrants out of Newton County.  Mark Abernathy was denied at the jail even after being cleared on scene and cleared at the jail and after EMS came back to clear him at jail.  Abernathy was released by jail staff to wait in the lobby on recognizance.
  • Domestic problem call on Lacy Street; verbal dispute, male comp was being harassed by girlfriend, advised to stay separated.
  • Suspicious vehicle call on N Madison Ave., WCSO advised of 1999 Plymouth Voyager in roadway unoccupied w/ busted out passenger side window. No contact w/ owner of van, vehicle towed from roadway.
  • Animal complaint on Alcovy St., injured deer in home owner’s yard. Deer had been struck by possible car, back legs broken. Deer put down, all ok.
  • Dispute call on E Church St. over property, situation resolved, all OK.
  • Theft call on N Broad St. (Waffle House), complainant stated unknown subject stole temporary tag off his vehicle at Quality Foods earlier this morning.
  • Speeding vehicle call on Hwy 138 towards city. Black Lexus SUV unable to maintain lane. Area checked no contact.
  • Suspicious person call at Trading Place Pawn. B/M on location w/ notification in computer for pawning stolen items. Demario Sorrels arrested for warrants taken by officer.
  • Enter Auto call on S Broad St., Female subject caught sleeping in vehicle owned by male subject. Female subject homeless and was trying to get out of rain. Owner of vehicle declined prosecution. Female subject sent on way, declined help from homeless shelter.
  • Area check of Baron Dr. and Sporty Ln., group of B/M riding 4 wheelers in roadway speeding. Contact made, advised to stay out of roadway.
  • Officer’s called to Colley St., caller wanting extra patrol due to undercover agents were following him. All ok.
  • Suspicious persona call on Harris St. and Lacy St., B/M wearing teal jacket had firearm in front pocket, Area checked no contact.
  • Road rage on W. Spring St. in front of Walmart, caller stated blue Chevy Cobalt driven by W/M who was intoxicated cut him off and was followed to Carwood Dr. Area checked , no contact.
  • Suspicious vehicle call on Unisia Dr. heading towards Church St. green Mazda 626 speeding and driving reckless on Hwy 78. Witnessed by EMS. Contact made w/ vehicle and driver, Charles Payne, warning given to manner of driving.
  • Road block call on E Church St. and Poplar St., glass in roadway. Glass removed, all OK.
  • Theft call on E Tall Oaks, complainant advised FedEx delivered his check to residence and left it on front porch while he was gone and an unknown subject opened the package and ripped the check in half. Report taken, check and package secured in evidence.
  • Officer’s called to GW Carver Dr., complainant paranoid over revival tent put up on N Broad St. All OK.
  • Animal call on Overlook Crest, White bulldog loose and running in neighborhood. Dog rescued at Overlook Crest in garage, owners not home.
  • Dispute call on Mill Creek Way, female subject disputing w/ another female subject over picking her son without her knowledge. 2 female actually has custody of 1st female’s son. Situation mediated.
  • Animal call on W Spring St., Pitbull loose in the area, officer rescued dog on location.
