UPDATE: Georgia State Patrol confirm that an 18-year-old Covington man died in a wreck on Monroe Jersey Road Saturday night. The driver was negotiating a curve when he lost control for unknown reasons and struck an embankment. The driver was ejected when the vehicle overturned and caught alight. The driver was pulled away from the vehicle by bystanders and CPR was started. However, he did not survive his injuries.

Walton County Fire Rescue report that a person was critically injured in an overnight wreck in Walton County. Bystanders pulled the victim away from burning car. No official update has been given on his condition at this time – awaiting confirmation from Georgia State patrol.
“WCFR responded to single vehicle car accident on Monroe Jersey Road late last night. The call was dispatched at 11:20 p.m. The accident was near the intersection of Penland Road on Monroe Jersey,” said WCFR Battalion Chief Craig League. “The patient was in very critical condition on the scene. The vehicle was on fire after the crash, bystanders pulled the driver away from the vehicle.”
Walton County Fire Rescue and GSP are investigating the accident.
