Monroe Police Department reported that on in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 20, two people were arrested following a rash of entering autos.
According to Lt. Tracy Hanson, officers were dispatched to the Golfview Subdivision in reference to an entering auto in progress.
“Officers patrolled the area on foot, and quickly witnessed two subjects entering vehicles. As the subjects were approached by officers, they began to flee on foot,” Hanson said, adding that a 16 year-old juvenile was arrested on the scene and Eric Devander Sheats, 17, was later taken into custody at his residence. “At this time, both subjects have been charged with 26 counts of entering auto and 2 counts of damage to property. Sheats is also being charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.”
Hanson said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending. There has been several incidents of entering autos in the last couple of weeks, as reported in recent police reports.
