Monroe PD Reports: Theft, disputes, squatters and credit card skimming

Monroe Police Department responded to the following calls between  July 15 – 21, 2016. This report is split into five parts due to the length. This is the first part for this period. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Burglary, Tanglewood Dr., complainant stated unknown suspect pried open side door and stole 45” TV, an air compressor, and a 4xl leather jacket sometime between 1730 hrs. last night to 0730 hrs. this morning while complainant was at work.  Report taken.
  • Damage to property, W. Creek Circle, complainant came outside this morning and noticed damage to her vehicle. Report taken
  • Suspicious vehicle in parking lot, white RV parked on location for 2 weeks, owner has refused to move. Contact made with owner and advised to move RV this date or it will be towed, was advised it will be moved.
  • Enter auto, Fawnfield Dr., complainant stated sometime overnight, unknown suspect entered his two trucks and stole his wallet along with $20 in change, vehicles were unlocked. Report taken.
  • Welfare check, Harris St., in regards to female subject possibly in danger due to threats made by father of her son. Female subject has an active TPO against male subject. All was ok.
  • Area check, Burger King due to six pieces of luggage in parking lot unclaimed. Management advised all ok, belongs to work crew that was on location earlier.
  • Domestic problem, Sporty Ln., complainant had questions about eviction regarding couple who are living for free at her residence and refuse to leave.
  • Suspicious person, N. Broad St. at E. Highland due to two males arguing. One had a gun in his waistband. All ok, subjects were listening to music and male subject has permit for gun.
  • Harassing calls, Alcovy St., complainant stated he was contacted by name given on the phone and subject was acting suspicious. Complainant advised it might be related to welfare check from earlier, remedies advised, all ok.
  • Domestic problem, Sporty Lane. Follow up with complainant over eviction process and “squatters” advised of local businesses that could help them get established until financially stable.
  • Burglary, W. Marable St., Complainant declined report, on superficial damage to screen on exterior of house.
  • Assault at Clearview Regional Medical Center. Female subject uncooperative and did not want to talk. Stated she hurt her neck herself.
  • Suspicious vehicle on Breedlove Court in regards to white Ford Mustang with loud exhaust driving in neighborhood. All ok, vehicle belongs to resident in neighborhood.
  • Warrants arrest, Landers St. for Dorreous Brooks. Contact made, Brooks arrested for multiple warrants out of Barrow County. Officer met Barrow county at Windstream and Brooks turned over without incident.
  • Domestic problem, Cook Place. Brother and sister, both intoxicated, were disputing. Brother  punched out window in his sister’s apartment. Brother was arrestedfor Public Intox. and Criminal Trespass. Sister was arrested for Probation warrant.
  • Suspicious person follow up, Heritage Ridge Court in n regards to female subject on location but was gone when they arrived. Left in a silver Nissan Altima. Neighbor called in advising she was on location due to fire from last date. GA tag was handicap.
  • Suspicious vehicle on Alcovy St. at Vine St., maroon Tahoe missing front wheel in ditch. Contact made with owner and vehicle was towed per request, all ok.
  • 911 hang up call, Maple St., domestic problem related. Mother advised her son punched her fiancé’ in face over property dispute. Warrants to be taken by officer for FV-Battery.
  • Suspicious vehicle, Green St. in regards to kids riding little motorcycle in roadway. Area checked and contact made on King St., juveniles advised to stay out of roadway.
  • Stolen vehicle, East Tall Oaks Dr., complainant advised she allowed her boyfriend to drive her vehicle and he hasn’t returned it. Complainant advised she was able to make contact with him and he’s on his way home.
  • Suspicious vehicle, at Liberty First Bank. Gray Honda Accord parked in drive-thru. Made contact with cleaning crew inside bank, who advise it was their vehicle.
  • Suspicious vehicle, West Spring St. at McDonald’s, complainant advised a green Ford Taurus had approximately three (3) children inside vehicle unrestrained.
  • Miscellaneous Law, North Madison Avenue – The Market. Del’reico Brown arrested and charged with theft by receiving stolen property. Attempting to cash a stolen check in the amount of $1,873.17.
  • Theft Report taken at South Broad St., Monroe Police Department. Complainant reported fraudulent transactions on her Georgia EBT card, which named had the PIN
  • Suspicious person, West Spring St. Caller advised two (2) Hispanic males were sliding a card into the Wells Fargo ATM machine, after each customer use. Negative contact with the subjects.
  • Burglary in Progress, Lawrence St., and complainant called while away from home to report subjects possibly breaking into her home. Location checked by officers and an open door was found. House cleared and homeowner was advised to call upon her return for a report.
  • Dispute, West Spring St., Clearview Regional Medical Center. Male subject causing a disturbance in room #1 but was calm prior to officer’s arrival.
  • Unknown law on Walker Drive. Caller advised they could hear a female screaming “help” multiple times. Area checked heavily by officers with negative contact.
