Walton County Fire Rescue announced Monday that the Fire Emergency and Outdoor ban that has been in place for almost a month has now been lifted.
“Due to recent rains that have been present over the last week, the FIRE EMERGENCY and OUTDOOR BURN BAN declared on November 16th, 2016 has been lifted on all outdoor fires (including land clearing, burn pits, campfires, bonfires, and the burning of all types of yard debris),” officials announced in a press release.
It’s reported that the Georgia Forestry Commission has determined that drought conditions in the area have improved and it is safe for outdoor burning to resume, “using normal fire safety precautions and of course with a burn permit obtained.”
