Monroe PD Report: Burglary, theft and disorderly conduct calls

Monroe PD responded to the following calls between  Dec. 30, 2016 – Jan. 5, 2017. This report is split into five parts due to the length. This is the first post for this period. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Agency Assist, Barrow Co., stopping suspicious vehicle, John’s Supermarket. Registered owner of vehicle wanted out of Barrow and Walton County. Driver checked ok. Subject wanted not in vehicle. Driver given warning by Barrow County for stop sign violation.
  • Dispute, West 5th St., complainant disputing with neighbor over property. The item was returned all ok.
  • Dispute, S. Broad St., female subject disputing with the staff at Dr. Gray’s Office. Subject was asked to leave and denied service. Situation was resolved.
  • Unknown Problem, N. Broad St. J&B Food Mart, called in from Barrow Co. third party reporter with language barrier. Contact made with store clerk who advised young male subject wearing a blue shirt took chips and drinks and left the store. Subject was gone when officer arrived –  unknown how long ago incident occurred. Clerk advised to call 911 not his boss if the subject returned.
  • Domestic problem report taken at MPD Lobby, complainant wanted to advise her weapon was in the possession of named male subject and she wanted the weapon back. A report was already taken and a supplement report will be added to case #.  No proof of ownership at this time.
  • Dispute, W. Marable St., complainant disputing with her boyfriend over car keys. Verbal dispute only situation mediated.
  • Suspicious person, S. Madison Ave., contact made with complainant who described male subject who was gone when officers arrived. All ok at this time. Advised he was just hanging around in the area.
  • Harmful Threats, Bridgeport Lane, complainant advised her daughter was talking about not wanting to live. No weapons, Subject was rolling around in the grass possible 38-D (drugs) related. Turkessa Sheets, GOA has active warrants out of Monroe for FTA. Contact made with subject at S. Broad & 6th St. Female ran from officers upon site. Arrested after brief chase on foot and being tased.  While being transported to the E.R. subject began to sneeze and a white substance starting running from her nose. Transport stopped at Alcovy Legion and met by EMS. EMS transported Sheets. Sheets admitted to ingesting a Percocet up her nose. Sheets also to be charged with Disorderly conduct.
  • Harassment, W. Spring St. Murphy’s USA, the complainant advised she was being harassed by female subject. Officer to make contact with subject on GW Carver Dr. Contact made with subject, and barred from WalMart.
  • Vehicle fire, N. Wayne & Highland Ave. Parking lot. White Ford Ranger “Used Vehicle” owned by Allens Retail. Being driven back from purchase caught fire. Monroe Fire got vehicle under control. Driver advised he would arrange for the vehicle to be removed from the parking lot using a private wrecker service.
  • Dispute, N. Broad St., Customer upset due to a beer not opening properly.  Sent on his way. All ok.
  • Loitering, East Church St., Chestnut cupboard. Ref to male on a bike asking for money in the parking lot and grabbed a girl by the arm. Subject was gone when officers arrived, area checked with negative contact.
  • Burglary report, Tanglewood Dr., complainant arrived home to find back window out. $500.00 cash, xbox1, PS4, and 8” tablet taken.
  • Theft report, East Fambrough St., complainant stated his friend took his Bluetooth speaker sometime in the afternoon when he borrowed his vehicle.
  • Fight call, Barret St. and 4th St., complainant advised altercation was over property, both subjects intoxicated, poss 38D (drugs). One subject given escort to Alcovy St.
  • Dispute, 4th St., complainant advised son Casey Cox refusing to leave grandmother’s house. Casey Cox arrested for failure to appear out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • EMS assist, Green St., male subject highly intoxicated, transported by EMS.
  • Loud Music, Bridgeport Pl. Made contact with homeowner. Home studio approximately nine calls since Dec 1. Has been warned several times, citation issued.
  • Trespassing 4th St., complainant advised Steven Broach back on location kicking front and rear doors, warned several time before he was not welcome at residence. Broach arrested for trespassing
  • Fight call, Glenwood Ave., complainant wanted Mitchell to leave. Mitchell arrested for disorderly conduct.
  • Suspicious person, Chestnut Ln., complainant stated she was contacted by an EX who has current TPO from Athens and she was concerned that he was at her residence. Area checked with negative contact.
  • Dispute, Tanglewood Dr., The complainant advised her roommate kicked her and her son out without notice and refused to let her back in. subject refused to open the door.
  • Burglary Report, South View Dr, Contact made with the son of the victim, he stated that he had a friend over last night. The victim left the residence to get dinner and didn’t realize anything was missing when they got back home until they woke up this morning and notice a laptop and tablet were taken.
