Officials with Walton County Fire Rescue reported just before 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, that Pannell Road at the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road was back open following a house fire.

Officials with Walton County Fire Rescue are working a house fire on Pannell Road at Pleasant Valley Road. Motorists are urged to avoid the area as the road is currently shut down.
At 2:50 on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, Capt. Jeff Allen with Walton County Fire Rescue said crews from WCFR as well as Monroe and Social Circle fire departments were on the scene of a working structure fire on Pannell Road at Pleasant Valley Road. The road was shut down as crews battled the fire.
“The fire is knocked down but it was a tough fire to fight because of the wind and the tounge n groove construction. Units will be on scene for at least a few hours,” Allen said. “The intersection is shut down because there is hose across the roadway.”
Allen said the family dog did not survive the fire. No other injuries were reported.
