The Walton County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are on the scene of a double murder on Nunnally Shoals Road in Good Hope, Ga. A relative of the elder couple who were the victims is in custody, according to Major Damien Mercer with WCSO.

According to Mercer, deputies went out to the home last night to perform a welfare check at the request of family members and the bodies were found.
“We still working on a timeline for when it actually took place,” Mercer said. It has been reported that suspicions were raised when the couple did not attend church on Sunday, as was customary.
GBI Special Agent in Charge Michael T. Ayers said it was important that the public be made aware that someone is in custody.
“We want to make sure that they know there is no danger to the public,” he said.

Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman has since confirmed that the murder victims were Betty and Charles Bryant, “both in their late 80s.” Their grandson, Andrew Jeremy Bryant, 46, is currently in custody at Walton County Detention Center. He was living in his grandparents home while going through a divorce.
“Based on his statements when we interviewed him, he has been charged with malice murder,” Mercer said. “It is likely more charges will be filed by the Grand Jury.”
According to jail records, Bryant is currently charged with two counts each of malice murder and felony murder as well as two counts of aggravated assault.
