Update
Georgia State Patrol confirm that a 62-year-old woman died in an early morning wreck on Bold Springs Road in Walton County this morning. She has been identified as Cathy Gallashaw, of Monroe.
According to GSP Trooper First Class Cal Barton, the call went out to the Walton County 911 center at 6:06 a.m. on Monday morning, Feb. 13, 2017. He said she was the only occupant of the vehicle and so it is difficult to say what caused her to run off the road.
“She was traveling west on Bold Spring Road, crossed over the centerline into the eastbound lane and off the south should of Bold Springs Road and struck a tree,” Barton said. “She was wearing a seatbelt and the airbag deployed. With no other occupant and no witnesses, we do not know what caused her to run off the road.”
The victim was transported to Clearview Regional Medical Center by EMS, but she did not survive her injuries. Barton said the next of kin have been notified.
