Walton County Cold Case Investigator Michael Rising came on board with Walton County Sheriff’s Office on July 7, 2010. Prior to that, he was an officer in the United State Marine Corps, a Vietnam Veteran and a Special agent with the FBI. He began working with WCSO for a specific purpose.
“It was specifically to work the 1992 Homicide of Randy Peters. Following successful indictment of his widow, Linda Agee, aka(also known as) Linda Chapman Peters Sergeant Agee (she had three husbands), and her ultimate conviction for Felony Murder, resulting in life imprisonment, I started compiling and working other cold cases which had come to light,” Rising said. “That was the beginning of Walton County’s Cold Case Unit.”
Currently Rising is working 15 cold cases with a total of 23 victims, the oldest from 1976. For investigative reasons, the Cold Case Unit will not be able to profile all the cases, but any that can be will be profiled in Monroe and Loganville Local’s Spotlight on Community. Each month, we will feature one of the cold cases and keep it live on the sites for a month.
The first of these videos, produced by Darrell Everidge of Darrell Productions, Inc., profiles Rising and the expertise he brings to the cases, as well as the first case being profiled in this series. This is the 2004 homicide of a newborn infant that was found on the side of the road in the Loganville area of Walton County. You are urged to share this on social media and any other way you can. The more people hear the details of these cases, the greater chance there is someone will have that little piece of information that will enable WCSO to bring justice to the victims and their families.
