
Crews from Monroe Fire Department responded to a pickup truck fire in the parking lot of Longhorn Steakhouse in Monroe on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Capt. Jack Armstrong, MFD responded to a fully involved fire behind the restaurant at about 6 p.m.

“The Dodge Ram truck was fully involved on our arrival and had already exploded due to contents inside the cab,” Armstrong said. “Longhorn was temporarily evacuated due to the close proximity of the fire. Occupants were allowed back inside within a few minutes.”
Armstrong said the contents inside the cab that caused it to explode was a gas similar to Freon that is used to charge air conditioners. He said the initial cause of the fire is undetermined.
