“Capt. Lott’s devotion to public fire safety education is of great benefit to our community,” Glass said. “In his new role, RJ will move our ‘Risk Reduction Program’ in a positive direction that will improve our service to and the safety of our citizens.”

Glass said the Marshal’s Office will accomplish that mission through public fire safety education, fire safety inspections, property safety maintenance compliance and fire cause investigations.

“Captain Lott’s diverse experience in Community Risk Reduction will provide the City of Monroe with solid safety standards and help protect the lives and property of our citizens,” said Assistant Fire Chief Bill Owens.

An 11-year veteran of the Monroe Fire Department, Lott was recognized as the 2015 Georgia Fire Safety Educator of the Year, awarded the Athens Technical College’s 2015 Work Ethics Award and received a Commendation from Georgia Governor Nathan Deal in 2016 for his “Fire Safety” work.
