Before he was a Social Circle police officer, Justin Malone was a Monroe police officer. He also was a school resource officer and, according to Capt. Sam Treadwell with Monroe Police Department, that was where his passion really was.

“His passion with the kids was more then being a Law Enforcement Officer,” Treadwell said in a write up about Malone. “He has helped many kids outside of being a Law Enforcement Officer.  Justin also had another passion dealing with kids.  Gangs and Drugs.  Justin Malone was part of the Georgia Gang Association and the Georgia Narcotics Association.  He really cared for the young kids on the street living this lifestyle.”

But all this was before he was given a cancer diagnosis that has completely changed his life. Treadwell said Malone underwent a lengthy surgery and is following up with Chemotherapy. He is no longer able to work and his bills are accumulating. So his brothers and sisters in law enforcement are doing what they can to help.

Members of Monroe Police Department had a cook-out this past Friday to raise money for him and the Social Circle Police Department is having a hamburger and hot dog cookout at the Social Circle Police Department this coming Friday. Also, a Gofundme page has been set up to help raise money for this man who is “family to a lot of people,” according to Treadwell. They are hoping to raise $20,000 by the end of the month.

“The money we are trying to raise will go toward his hospital bills and help him with day to day living and medication,” Treadwell said on the Gofundme page. “We are trying to raise this money before the end of November. Justin Malone is such a great person and always kept people laughing. He really cared about the people he met, good or bad, and even in the health situation he is in he tries to stay happy. Justin Malone will never ask for anything and he does not need to because we care so much for him.”

People are invited to stop by the Social Circle Police Department between noon at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, and buy a hamburger or hot dog plate to help raise money to help raise money for Malone’s expenses. The Social Circle Police Department is located at 138 East Hightower Trail. You can also go to the Gofundme page and contribute to help ease Malone’s financial burden as he battles cancer.
